WHICH CHILDHOOD LESSONS ARE YOU READY TO LET GO OF?
[Tweet “Staying small will prevent you from living your vision. It is time to break free!”]
Growing up I was shunned for being independent. I was also taught that if you don’t have anything nice to say then you don’t say anything at all. And it was modeled that men control money.
Not pointing any fingers, just noticing how certain things I experienced and was taught during childhood shaped me.
I became quite good at staying small, quiet, and financially dependent on others.
And for a fiercely independent girl this was not ideal. Actually, it was painful and damaging.
My first and favorite sentence to say as a toddler was “By myself.”
So in resistance to my embodied misaligned beliefs I have gone through tremendous transformation. Today I understand the value of strategic business collaboration and loving, respectful partnerships personally and professionally that not only add value to my life and work but also allow me to add value to the world.
Because of this transformation I am well-equipped to guide others through transformation, and I am honored to be able to do so.
In 2010 our little happy family experienced a financial crisis. Subsequently I sold my $18,000 wedding ring for groceries. Among other things. Sometimes I miss the ring (it has a special story of it’s own), but I will replace that ring one day.
And the lessons I learned from our financial perfect storm are priceless.
I wouldn’t have written it in to the story of my life but God has a bigger plan.
I attribute that experience partly to my beliefs at the time that I should not be independent, I should stay quiet, and be passive financially.
That did not work out very well.
The Silver Lining:
I now know how to earn income doing something I love in a way that allows me to be flexible and present for my boys. And, even better, I have learned how to manage money. I am debt free and am becoming financially independent. I am not afraid to speak the truth, even if it could be perceived as “not nice” and ruffles feathers.
I don’t have to stay small anymore.
It is safe (and smart!) to live an empowered life.

I have created some new beliefs and behaviors during the rebuilding process and it feels really good. And I am happy that I don’t have to keep learning those lessons because they were painful and I finally integrated the learning into my lifestyle.
Passing the Baton:
Which beliefs from childhood are you ready to let go of?
What is your current transformation?
Are you ready to be supported and dive deep?
Do some journaling this week about what childhood beliefs you are ready to let go of or transform, and find a trusted friend or mentor to discuss it with. Name ONE ACTION STEP you will take this week to begin transforming so you can become more aligned and empowered. Finally, please share your takeaways in the comments and share the article with someone you know who might benefit.
What I know:
It takes work to become empowered but it is totally worth it!
I believe that suffering is optional. Or at least how long we suffer is.
I also believe that our challenges do not define us. It is how we handle challenges that does.
It is not easy to share the “down sides” of my life experiences but if sharing those parts of my story encourages or inspires one person then it is a risk worth taking. xx
If you’d like support through your transformation I would love to talk. That’s what I do.
Because you deserve a life you don’t need a vacation from.
If you are ready to explore how being supported through your transformation could free you to live an empowered life sooner than later I invite you to schedule a complimentary Discovery Session. These sessions fill up quickly as I only offer 3 max per week. So book your session today and get on the road to the happiness and success you desire and deserve.
