The boys and I are enjoying our final week of summer. It has been fun, and such a nice, much-needed break from the rigors of the school year.
As a business owner and mom of four one of the most important things I do each day is take care of myself. Because if I drop this ball then all the other balls I juggle get dropped as well, and things can get pretty ugly. I have learned that I cannot serve my clients or my family well if I am dragging, depleted, or sick.
3 things I try to do daily to stay on my A-game are as follows:
- sleep at least 7 or 8 hours (I prefer 9!)
- exercise at least 15 – 30 minutes (I prefer an hour!)
- eat energizing, healthful foods AMAP (as much as possible).

Our bodies were not created to exist on 4 hours sleep, a sedentary lifestyle, and junk food. And we will certainly not thrive inside these types of conditions. Keep your eyes peeled for common red flags such as losing your temper, feeling frustrated, gaining weight, yelling at your kids or arguing with your spouse, and struggling to get your work done because you lack energy and ideas. Those things are signs that it is time to crank up self-care a notch. As mothers, coaches, consultants, and caregivers, we require a higher level of nurturing to be able to serve from overflowing.
CHALLENGE: Any time you want to improve your relationships, mood, family dynamics, or business, try changing your sleep, exercise, and food routines. Jack up your level of self-care. Take a day off for R & R.

This school year I am trying something new and committing to yoga at home weekday mornings and forgoing my beloved morning walk, except on the weekends. This means that mornings will start one hour earlier and my workday will begin 2 hours earlier. My hope is that this will bring a more expansive feeling to my days. And possibly naps!

Passing the magic wand:
What can you do to nourish yourself better this fall?
(Choose one thing, name it specifically, and then put it on your agenda!)
How will nourishing yourself better make you feel?
(write down 1-3 ways)
How will this support your business?
(write down at least one way, specifically)
For example, sleeping at least 7 hours and exercising every day gives me energy and clarity which allows me to work smarter not harder and write articles like this one with ease!
Now go ahead and share your commitment in the comments so that I and others in our community can be inspired and hold you accountable.
